Why Choose a Cast Iron Fireplace?
Cast iron fireplaces are hugely popular for their ornate, exquisite designs. Often based on original motifs from the many architectural periods of the 19th and early 20th century – Regency, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco are among the favourites – choose from a myriad of different designs to add a unique focal point to any room in your house.

Is a Cast Iron Fireplace Easy to Clean?
Cast Iron Fireplaces are very easy to clean. A simple dusting is enough for day to day cleaning as well as a sweep round the hearth. In some cases where the air is damp you may see some surface tarnishing but this is very easy to remove with a very fine wire wool or simple washing up nylon pad. This pad should be used with oils and never with water! A cast iron fireplace is one of the easiest to keep clean and should last for many many years.
Will a Cast Iron Fire Rust?
In short, no, not if it is looked after properly. Fires come with a fine layer of oil that will protect it for years and adding another layer is very easy. If, however, a fire is in a room with damp or is cleaned with wet clothes then eventually it could show some surface rust. This is certainly no something to panic about though. Surface rust is very easy to remove with a number of easily available substances; simply ask our team for some advice.
Decorative Even When Not Lit
One of the lovely features of a cast iron fire is that even when it is not lit it look stunning. In many homes decommissioned iron fireplaces are left as features in a room. This can be very important to people who want to add value to their house. If the new owners didn’t want a fire the likelihood is they would still love the fireplace.
Gas Electric or Real
Regardless of whether you decide to have a gas, electric or real fire a cast iron surround is the perfect backdrop fire type, adding style and gravitas to your homes interior. When it comes to classic style, the sleek arching lines and intricate patterns of a traditional cast iron fireplace remain a very popular choice. For and extra design touch, why not combine the timeless beauty of a Victorian surround with a ceramic tiled insert?
